Deleting your account

Last updated 9 October 2026

You can have your account and everything in it permanently deleted, at any time, without giving a reason. This page explains how, and exactly what happens.

On the free plan, your own list is on your device, not with us: uninstalling the app removes it, and we cannot recover it for you, because we never had it. What deleting the account removes from our servers is your account and email address, items you emailed in, and your part in anything shared — including what you added to a label someone shared with you.

On Pro, it also removes your synced list and its attachments.

How to request deletion

In the app

Open Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm. This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.

By email

Email support@mylaterlist.com from the address your account is registered to, asking us to delete your account. Sending from the registered address is how we confirm the request is really from you — if you cannot, tell us and we will find another way to verify it.

We will confirm we have received your request within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days. You do not need to give a reason, and we will not try to talk you out of it.

What gets deleted

Everything we hold that is yours:

  • your account and sign-in credentials;
  • every item in your list, including anything sitting in the bin;
  • every image, document and voice recording you uploaded;
  • your labels, filters, reminders and preferences;
  • your display name and profile picture;
  • any labels you own, and the invitations attached to them;
  • your connections to AI assistants.

What is kept, and why

We would rather list these than let you discover them later.

WhatHow longWhy
Encrypted backups containing your dataUp to 30 days after deletionBackups roll over on a fixed schedule and cannot be edited in place. Nothing is restored from them into the live service once your account is gone.
Items you added to a label someone else ownsKeptThey are part of a shared collection other people still rely on, and are no longer attributed to you. If you want these gone too, remove them before you ask us to delete your account, or say so in your request and we will remove them for you.
Records of payments and invoicesAs long as tax and accounting law requiresA legal obligation we cannot waive. These are records of a transaction, and contain no content from your list.
Anonymised diagnostic logsA short retention periodNo longer linked to you or to your account.

If you have a subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, because we are not the ones charging you — Apple or Google is. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings before you ask us to delete your account, or it will keep renewing.

Take a copy first

Deletion is permanent, and there is no undo. If you might want your list later, get a copy of it before you ask.

Use Settings → Data & privacy → Export all items to save everything as a PDF, Markdown, CSV or JSON file, with your photos and files alongside.
